The Met Police has confirmed it will re-examine CCTV footage relating to the unsolved murder of Jill Dando, 27 years ago.
The BBC presenter and journalist was shot dead with a single bullet on her doorstep in Fulham in April 1999. Despite one of the biggest and most high-profile murder investigations in British history, the case remains unsolved.
A Met spokesperson said recent advancements in CCTV enhancement technology had “provided investigators with the opportunity to re-examine original footage from Putney Bridge train station”.
The CCTV includes an unidentified man who was seen sprinting near the scene of the shooting, 20 minutes after the event.
The Met said in the 27 years since Dando’s death, the investigation had been “subject to numerous reviews”, aiming to identify whether matters could be progressed with advances in technology and forensics.
It warned this latest review was part of “ongoing inquiries and should not be interpreted as a significant line of inquiry nor as a new investigation being opened on this matter”.
