Been a while since I’ve done one of these.
Sometimes the prompts just don’t merit a full post, and other times they’re just ridiculous. The users on MAL strike me as a younger demographic overall, so there are plenty of strange and fun questions out there that fit better in a rapid fire format!
#1. Do you think anime gatekeeping is done by the gatekeepers or the gatekept themselves?
I think gatekeeping isn’t really a thing, no one is physically stopping you from watching whatever your heart desires. The idea of people somehow gaslighting themselves into not watching an anime is funny to think about though!
#2. Does weather affect your preferences for what anime you want to watch?
Nope, can’t say it ever has.
#3. What do you do when you don’t know what to watch next?
Usually, I look for something to rewatch, or I just take a break for a few days. I’ve been meaning to force myself to broaden my horizons again though, so I might start another A to Z, or genre based watch list next year. Also would force me to write more reviews!
#4. How promiscuous are you with anime characters?
Very. This one time, waifu came in and caught me red-handed, creepin’ with the waifu next door.
Just kidding, I’d never cheat on Prez.
#5. Are moe blob elves more popular and beloved than high elves?
I don’t even know what this means, and I mostly watch fantasy anime!
That said, the answer is no.
#6. How come all anime girls cosplay as black cats and not orange cats?
The only possible explanation here is that Japan is racist towards orange cats.
#7. Do you have filler waifus as favourites? Why?
Now we have filler waifus? Is that like a waifu that fills the gap between official waifus?
If so, then yes I do. How else would I fill the gap?
#8. Which characters do you want the voice actors to dress up like and act like for your pleasure?
I want Jouji Nakata to dress up and act like Nyanta from Log Horizon.
#9. What anime would be better if it killed off it’s main character?
I’m thinking at least half of the isekai anime that have been released in the past 5-10 years.
#10. Does watching anime YouTube videos or Tiktok make you an anime fan?
Sure, why not.
#11. Who’s your “literally me” anime character?
Hiramaru-kun from Bakuman.
#12. Would you sacrifice the rest of your life to spend a year with your favourite anime character?
Yes!
If I make it to 99 years old, I’ll go for it.
We’ll call it there, as you can see MAL doesn’t disappoint when it comes to talking about their waifus. It’s tough to keep up sometimes, but as an anime fan I have no choice but to keep with the times and engage with these hard hitting questions when I can.
