Country: Austria
One wouldn’t normally expect to hear music in the “Americana” style coming from a band in Vienna, Austria. But then, when you’ve lived the life that Marc Miner has, it becomes less surprising.
From the age of sixteen, Miner has lived a rebel’s life, leaving home and traveling the world, and finally ending up in America, where his love of music was only paralleled by his love of gambling. Thrown in jail for some illegal gambling and other trivial offenses, Marc was eventually extricated and returned to Vienna, where he began putting his passion for outlaw country, rock and Americana to good use.
Miner and his band have since become heralded players, releasing tracks like the spirited “Saved My Soul”, with it’s uppity banjo kick and full-band sea shanty harmonies soundtracking a dusty tale about finding one’s way. Miner is just as capable of treading into shuffling country songs like “Sweet Codeine” or stripped-down folk (“Rowboat”).
