Have you ever wondered what categories you’re able to sell on Amazon? 

Amazon used to allow sellers to sell in any brand or category. However, nowadays, you need permission in order to sell in certain categories. Otherwise, it is necessary to get ungated.

If you’re a new seller, you do not need permission to sell in open categories.

Below are step-by-step instructions on how you can view your selling eligibilities:  

Step 1. Login to your seller central account. On the upper left-hand side, click on “Catalog”.

Step 2. Then, click on “View Selling Applications”

Step 3. Click on “Category”.

From here you can view all of the categories you’ve applied to get ungated.

Here, I’m checking to see if I’m eligible to sell in the Grocery & Gourmet Foods category.

Step 4. If you are approved, your status will say “Approved.” This means you’re eligible to sell in that particular category.

Step 5. To see which brands you have permission to sell in, simply click on “Brand”

Keep in mind that to get ungated, you’d need to purchase 10 units of the same item, from a wholesaler/distributor.
