So after the 2-4 weeks on the famotide you just stop ?
Hey doc I had duodenal erosions and antral gastris
My doc gave vonomac 20mg twice a day for 3-4 months ppis were changed in these day's to pantaprozol.
Them 20mg once for couple months
Then 10mg for 1.5 months
I have been off them for 11 day's now I have having heartburns a lot and acid reflux.
No i was not given antibiotics for h-pylori as he said 70% indians already have it even if I treat u it'll come back.
Dosage started from nov 2024 lasted till August 2025 so 8 months give or take
Doc, I had antral erosions on Endoscopy about 6 months ago and am still on 40mg. Is it safe to get off it now? I feel perfectly fine and no pain. Even during endoscopy I didn't have any symptoms but my GI advised PPI. I am seeing symptoms of low magnesium.
First doctor that actually provides advise on how to stop PPIs. My doctors said there's no such thing as rebound after taking Omeprazol.
How long does it take for your body to get used to the proton inhibitors pump and need to use the pepsin to “wean” off or use as a step down supp till you are completely off? Meaning could you just stop after a week or two or would you need to implement the pepsin?
Thanku i just learned ppi need tapering
Thank you 💕🙏
I have a problem. I take a PPI for Barrett's esophagus since I am on the borderline for it. But I just found out I am iron deficient and must take iron pills. But a PPI can reduce iron absorption. My iron was already low prior to the PPI, but in 4-5 months on the PPI it got even lower. Now I am starting iron supplements but will the PPI ruin them?
@MarkCooperMD Hello Doctor. I haven’t had Acid Reflux symptoms in about 1 year after taking Omeprazole for 3 months. Now my symptoms have returned. I have changed my diet and don’t eat late at night. I get occasional heartburn, I feel the acid in the back of my throat even when I wake up on occasion. I have thick phlegm in back of my throat every night during bedtime and it’s hard to sleep! It causes anxiety and feels like I’m choking on thick spit!
Would you recommend I start Omeprazole or Famotidine?
(I’ve taken both meds before) 💊
I've been on them forever , I have severe Gerd and IBS. I'm trying right now to get off them now , trying natural options, lemon water and ginger. Gotta get of this garbage. I have early signs of barrets esophagus as well. Has to be a better way
Do you think that taking a PPI for 15 years or more is too long? I had GERD and even signs of Barrett’s Esophagus at one point, but the next endoscopy I had it vanished. I’ve recently had E. Coli and needed to take antibiotics because my body wasn’t fighting it off for some reason… And I’m waiting on another H. Pylori test and on my 2nd batch of antibiotics. For whatever reason the first round (4 pills at once) helped for the first day or two and stopped helping. Now I’m on day 4 of a 5 day course and I feel better, but am worried my symptoms will come back.. Extreme fatigue, bad headaches behind my eyes, dizziness, confusion, nausea, aches all over my ribs and back pain. The PPI’s I heard can stop the absorption of meds sometimes so perhaps the antibiotics won’t work properly? Maybe the microbes in my gut are messed right up due to extended use? I try to incorporate probiotics daily, not sure if it makes a difference… I’m on the wait list to see a gastroenterologist and a rheumatologist because I haven’t had an endoscopy done in 7 years. But I can’t do much more at this point.
Thank You
Thank You
Stay away from PPI if you can. They are now finding a link between PPI's and Alzhiemers. That also goes with antihistamines if taken on a routine basis, like for sleep.
You explained this better than my own doctor 😂
Thank you for this well balanced video. I’ve been on Prilosec and then Nexium for almost 30 years! My acid reflux is horrible and this has given me a much better quality of life. I just lost my husband to esophageal cancer and he had no symptoms. I’m monitored and have a slight indication of Barrett’s Esophagus so I’m not inclined to get off of the meds. My one concern is that these meds supposedly interfere with the body’s ability to absorb nutrients. Tough choice.
Having severe neurological symptoms only thing that’s changed is ppi. I’m on 50 mg tramadol and .25 kolonopin. I can’t tell if it’s blocking them or what but I feel not on at all . Dizzy anxiety out of body feeling weak severe pain pain intensified where I already had pain . Pressure in head confused irritable . I tried to stop for a week didn’t feel better I don’t get it .
can i stop this after taking 3 days?
Very helpful thank you so much❤
I have 30mg of lansoprazole each morning as i suffer digestive issues due to a sliding hiatul hernia…..i dont want to be on this medication long term and just wondering if its ok to stop it and rely on more natural remedies such as diet and slippery elm
