Many of the Nancy Drew games have recently been updated to be more compatible with modern systems. If you are seeing the ND-12121 error or the game simply will not launch, below are three methods of solving the issue.
Method 1
Update your computer
Press the WINDOWS key on your keyboard and type “update.” Click “ Check for updates (System settings)” in the menu.
In the window that appears, download and install any available updates, then restart your computer.
Method 2
Update your drivers
Who is the manufacturer of your graphics card? This can be found by opening the “Device Manager (Control panel)” by searching it from the Start screen of your computer. After that, select “Display adapters” from the items that appear in the on-screen prompt. Usually the devices listed will be either an Intel HD, AMD, or NVIDIA graphics card. Once you know your manufacturer, you can go directly to their website to verify whether or not there are any updates available for your specific device. Opt to download drivers (software that enables computer hardware to run appropriately).
Method 3
Delete the .dll file
If updating your computer does not help or you would prefer not to, manually navigate to the game’s installed location.
By default:
C:Program Files (x86)Her Interactive[Game Title]
In the window that appears, find and delete the d3d9.dll file, then relaunch the game.
