Hey Folks, I am back with an exciting recipe. Sheer pira, meaning sweet milk in Dari, is a traditional Afghan dessert made with a mixture of full-cream milk powder, ground cardamom, rosewater, and ground or chopped nuts combined with hot sugar syrup. The creamy mixture is added to a lined or greased tray or a deep dish, smoothed out, and then sprinkled with additional chopped or powdered nuts/dried fruits.
Ingredients :
Sugar – 1 cup
water -1 cup
Milk powder – 2 cup (full fat )
dried fruits – 1/4 cup for garnish
Rose water – 3-4 drops
Ghee – 1/4-1/2 cup as per need
Method :
- Place the sugar and water in a saucepan over low heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Simmer, without stirring, for 10–15 minutes, or until a thick syrup forms or chasni.
- once the sugar syrup is ready, add milk powder in batches, so lumps doesn’t occur . Continusely whisk the mixture. Add ghee , so the mixture doesn’t get dry.
- Stir together in low flame till all the mixture comes together. Cook till mixture leaves the pan from side.
- Add rose water drops to enhance flavour.
- Take a aluminium tray/steel plate, grease it with ghee.
- Transfer the mixture into the tray/plate and spread it evenly.
- Sprinkle some dried fruits on top of it. Let it cool for minimum 30 min.
- After 30 min, cut into any shapes of your choice.
