This was a watch I picked up in order to sell on www.time-tees.com but once it arrived and I worked on it I thought it was nice enough to add to my already overwhelming collection!
Like all good projects this one arrived as a non runner but on inspection the movement looked pretty clean visually but once on the scope I could see the pivots for the train wheels were all bunged up with gunge and old oil.
Its a simple movement this one so stripped it all back down ran it through the cleaner and once rebuilt put a battery in.

With the battery installed she fired right back up into life. The dial is a superb snowflake dial with black indices and hands.

The last part of the puzzle for me was the caseback. It had Japanese inscription on it so I used Google Translate on my phone to see what was being said. I was surprised at the answer.

A gift to the president of Nippon Telegraph & telephone corporation 1980. Not a bad gift to receive and clearly they wore it or someone in the family.
I had to fit a new crystal which was a bit of a faff because of the way its setup, you have to push the crystal out from front to back which is not easy. Then mess around with a gasket to then put the new one in and press it all together again. Seiko really made it very difficult to do on this model.
Bracelet is also aftermarket, it came with the watch and does suit it quite well. I will enjoy this one for a while before deciding if I want to flip it or not.
