Reiki for Donating Blood

According to the American Red Cross, “Each year, an estimated 6.8 million people in the United States donate blood.”

Perhaps, you have found yourself feeling called to donate blood. You may be a frequent donor or someone who will be donating for the first time. This altruistic act is a powerful way to help save lives. Just think of the many ways donating helps individuals with blood-related illnesses, accidents, and surgeries. Even though you are helping others by donating your blood, frequent donation also benefits you in the way of a healthier heart and vascular system.

In a January 24, 2022 news article with Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Dr. DeSimone stated, “Regular blood donation is linked to lower blood pressure and a lower risk for heart attacks. It helps to reduce cardiovascular risk factors.”

As Reiki Practitioners and Reiki Master Teachers, we have a heart of service. As you continue to use Reiki in your daily life, you will soon discover there are many different ways to use Reiki as a tool. One way that not only helps you but helps someone else is by giving Reiki while donating blood.

Reiki is a wonderful stress-reducing modality that assists in bringing you to a calm state. Just think, as you are donating blood, of how Reiki can begin to shift within your body. How can this intention shift within your blood? Those eight to ten minutes of your time giving Reiki as you donate blood.

This idea reminded me of the Masaru Emoto Water Experience in which Masaru Emoto exposed water to positive words and intentions that resulted in the water in a frozen state: a formation of symmetrical crystalline structures versus the negative words formed an asymmetrical and disorganized structure.

Our blood cannot hold “emotions” as a liquid would form into a container, however, our bodies’ emotional responses can have an impact on our pressure, flow, and hormone release into the body. There is a connection between the circulatory system and emotions.

Reiki for Donating Blood

Imagine the impact that you can make with Reiki as you are donating blood. What positive words could you say, a blessing or a prayer? Sending Reiki with the intention of the highest good to the individual who will be receiving this blood type.

As you are donating blood, those eight to ten minutes begin with your Precepts. Start with yourself. As you ask the Reiki to begin to flow and bring in your symbols, place your hands comfortably on your body.

Silently say to yourself:

“Just for today, I will not get angry.”
“Just for today, I will not worry.”
“Just for today, I will work honestly.”
“Just for today, I will be humble and grateful.”
“Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.”

Then, let the Reiki Precepts flow into your blood as you silently say to yourself:

Just for today if this person is willing to Receive the Reiki.
I hope this individual receiving this will not get angry.
Just for today this person receiving this will not worry.
Just for today, this person receiving this will work honestly.
Just for today this person receiving this will be humble and grateful.
Just for today, I hope this individual receiving this will be kind to every living thing. May all their life lessons be done with grace and ease.

Remember to thank the Reiki.

Can you imagine instead of being anxious or worried about donating blood you offer yourself Reiki?

Just think of the possibilities or where your blood donation can go and how that can further help that individual? In addition to doing the Reiki precepts, here are some tips for giving Reiki while giving blood.

Here is how you can give Reiki while donating blood:

  1. If you have an appointment or know you’ll be giving blood that day, and you’re attuned to Reiki symbols, use them to give yourself Reiki beforehand.
  2. Offer Distant Reiki to your future self and send Reiki (silently asking permission) to the person who will be assisting you.
  3. Use your Distant symbol to send Reiki to your health screening.
  4. Once you’re at your appointment and getting comfortable, take a moment to set your intention.
  5. Once the donation begins, activate your Reiki symbols.
  6. You can bring in Reiki principles for yourself and then for your donation.
  7. Visualize as Reiki comes from the crown of your head down to your heart and through your body.
  8. Maybe the sight of blood makes you weakly visualize the Reiki flowing into the bag.
  9. Set the intention if the receiver is accepting of the Reiki energy and make the energy work for the highest good. Even offer Reiki to anyone accepting of the medical staff that will handle the blood.
  10. As it is complete, seal the session with your Cho Ku Rei symbol.
  11. As you are in recovery you can continue to send Reiki to yourself.
  12. Make sure to thank the Reiki.

Now you may wonder about permission. One important factor in offering or giving Reiki is permission from the person. The person receiving the blood may not be aware of Reiki or may not even be conscious. Reiki accepts free will. As a practitioner and Master Teacher, set the intention as you give the Reiki. If the person or body of the person is accepting of the Reiki energy that flows in this type of blood, they are receiving it. May it be for their highest good. It all comes down to intention and the highest good for all. Reiki does not harm and knows there is no wrong way to do it. While you are giving blood, perhaps it is another way to keep yourself relaxed and positive as well as the future donor.
