The Player Protection Symposium will form a key aspect of the Canadian Gaming Summit 2025, as various industry players come together to discuss and debate player safety.

At the headline event, taking place on Thursday, 19 June at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, policy specialists will be joined by operators and other subject matter experts to examine how Canada’s gambling framework is set to meet contemporary challenges.

As the sector evolves and new trends emerge, how is Canada’s system equipped to deliver vital player protections? That question and more will be deliberated at the session, as the industry responds to the rising impact of AI and offshore activity.

Rasmus Sojmark, Founder and CEO of SBC, stated: “Protecting players should never be viewed as a compliance box to tick. It’s a complex, developing challenge that spans tech, policy, and empathy.

This symposium brings together the people on the frontline of responsible gambling to share the insights that will help us build a truly sustainable gaming industry across Canada.”

The Player Protection Symposium will comprise six expert-led sessions on issues ranging from AI-focused player protection to collective national player exclusion models.

Several specialist sub-events on the agenda

There will also be a political element to the event, with the legislation framework assessed.

One of the panels will examine what Alberta can gain from Ontario’s approach to responsible gaming, while another seminar will probe why around 20% of bettors in Ontario are still attracted to illicit gambling platforms.

A panel of experts, including Craig Cornforth (Senior Business Development Manager, EPIC Global Solutions), Alistair Facciol (Vice President of iCasino, iGaming Ontario), Steve McAllister (Editor-In-Chief, The Parleh), Ryan McCarthy (Director of Player Health at BCLC), and Geoff Zochodne (Senior News Analyst, Covers), will all consider and discuss how rapidly changing political regimes impact player protection measures and if a joined-up national approach could assist in moving players away from unregulated betting platforms.

The Player Protection Symposium is one of several specialist sub-events at the summit, alongside others including affiliates and advertising, cybersecurity, sports betting and casino, and payments and compliance.
