Plus, it was absolutely soaked from a very wet weekend. The forecast called for more rain, but I lucked out and it only really rained for 15-20 minutes and then drizzled a little bit on and off. So not only is Fishin’ Jimmy one of my least favorite trails in the Whites due to its annoying steepness and horrible erosion, but I got to deal with all of the worst elements on this journey.
The trail is pretty moderate up to Lonesome Lake, but there are so many boulders that the going is never as swift as you’d like it to be. I saw a few people braving the rain, but I’d only see 4 people all day on the mountain who were as crazy as me.
On the summit, I had no views, and I didn’t plan on doing South Kinsman since I had already done it once in May before from Reel Brook. However, the moss was beautiful amidst the backdrop of the fog.
I got my first “views” on the way down when the fog lifted from Lonesome Lake. This was my 10th North Kinsman to match my 10th South Kinsman. Only two more to complete the grid for these peaks! It was certainly a hike that I won’t forget, but surely want to!
