New Music Friday: May 30, 2025

May is coming to a close and it’s a slightly quieter week than the last few. But don’t you worry – the releases we do have for you today are all superb.

Folk rockers Mt. Joy have been dropping singles for months, and now we finally have the full and final album. The National‘s Matt Berninger has his new solo album out, as do alternative vets Garbage. There’s also a new EP from Australian guitarist and songwriter Tash Sultana.

We get to welcome back Yellowcard this week, who have dropped two new songs from their next full-length album. Joy Oladokun has shared two new tracks, and Low Cut Connie is back with more piano rock n’ roll. girl in red is back with her new track “Hemingway”, while Wet Leg are giving us “CPR”. Rise Against have another punk rock banger out, while the John Butler Trio are continuing their musical return with a new jam. Hard rockers Chevelle have shared their second song of 2025, while The Beaches continue to churn out exquisite pop rock bops.

Rising indie rockers Reddy Hollow have shared their second new track of the year, while Lucero frontman Ben Nichols is prepping a new solo album and dropped its first single. Classic rockers Styx have their 18th studio album coming out, and dropped the first single for that this week, while Yungblud launched his third new single with a starry music video. There’s another lost track from The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, and break-out indie artist Alex G has dropped the first single from his follow-up to his critically acclaimed album God Save the Animals.

We’ve got familiar names like Slightest Clue, De Jesus, Garfield Mayor, Pleasure Pill, CAFUNÉ, Darko, Burnt Tapes, FRND CRCL, The Spitfires, Elliot James Reay, Autoheart, The Ries Brothers, Arts Fishing Club, Kennyhoopla, Hayes Carll, Ben Kweller, Haim, ALEXSUCKS, Illuminati Hotties, Middle Kids and The War and Treaty.

And as always, some hand-picked new artists are hitting the list this week, like Signals Midwest, Bee Blackwell, Gabe Parsons, Hot Joy, George Vezas, Without Willow, Caroline, Gina Zo, Sea Fever, En Masse, The Far Out, Steady Habits, Anchor & Braille, Truss, Peace Roze and The Methadones.
