Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls (Episode 8) – Everyday Life in Poor Health

What happened?

Mia is not happy about Rachnera joining the house, especially as she seems to have her eyes on Kimihito. However, everywhere she turns, she struggles to find an ally. Even Centorea seems to be undeterred by Rachnera’s appearance. Then, Kimihito goes to the bathroom and is pounced on by Rachnera, who is trying to advance their relationship before anyone else can make their move. Luckily, Centorea was there to stop them. Then, when Kimihito went to bed, Rachnera was waiting for him again. And once more, Centorea was there to grab him and jump out the window, leaving Rachnera behind.

As she ran, she could feel the gaze of the people on her, and that made her feel uncomfortable and out of place. However, Kimihito had no doubt why they were staring, and it wasn’t what Centorea thought. Anyhow, once she had stopped running, they found themselves surrounded by a group of drunks who were determined to have some fun at their expense, and since monsters couldn’t attack humans, there was nothing stopping them. Luckily, Rachnera showed up and tied them all up. Then, she confronted Centorea for being dishonest with herself. At least Mia was honest about how she felt. Centorea thanked her for saving them and then apologised for not liking her, and was prepared to be punished for her actions…

Kimihito got sick! It was just a cold, but that was a big deal in a house with several different species. Agent Smith was quick to the scene, quarantining Kimihito and revealing that she would take care of him to ensure that the virus didn’t mutate and move between species. However, that was just so that she could get out of a load of paperwork with the MON team. Since the girls couldn’t look after Kimihito directly, they taught Suu everything they knew about looking after someone who was sick. It was a strange mix of scenarios that did little for Kimihito’s health. Then, Suu read his memories and worked out how to save him herself.

What did you think?

Of all the monster girls, Centorea has always been my favourite. Seeing her trying to remain impartial and stoic while Rachnera kept making advances on Kimihito was tough to watch. As much as I love the strong, silent types, Centorea has a real problem with admitting how she feels about things. She obviously loves Kimihito but seems to have accepted that she will simply be his servant. Just like how she hid her initial feelings towards Rachnera. Maybe, Rachnera confronting her on the issue will help her to admit to other things, too.

Agent Smith continues to be a fantastic source of conflict and humour. I love how she always has an ulterior motive to her actions, and it’s often something as simple as getting a free meal or getting out of doing some real work. So, when she said she would look after Kimihito, you knew there was something she wanted out of it. The fact that she didn’t actually look after him at all also came as no surprise.

So, with Agent Smith being useless, each of the girls attempted to show Suu how to look after Kimihito, and each situation turned into attempts at seduction rather than nursing him back to health. It was surprising to see Rachnera rein everyone in. She’s quickly become the grown-up of the group, which will no doubt make Mia feel even more inadequate. Then, to make matters more complicated, Suu stepped up on her own to cure Kimihito, thanks to her ability to see into his mind. Is there a better way to take your medicine?
