Wave Explosion, Monterey Bay, California

Nature’s power is always at work and a great place to watch tidal forces is near Lighthouse Point in Monterey Bay. This swell is just a normal day but occurs where the sea begins to flow into the bay a rocky point. On storm days collisions like this can be three times bigger and surf watchers like me have to stand far back or the ocean will grab you and send you to Davey Jones Locker. These tidal forces shape and sculpt the coast, cause natural cliff collapses and mariners beware to sail with caution especially on foggy days. A wild and wonderful place to see. On calm days scuba divers enter and kayaks bob about as the sea otters float in the sea weed kelp forest. A salt water sanctuary of marine life biodiversity.
