This stone is in a very forgotten cemetery. There’s no upkeep and hardly any paths to the individual graves. This one, the resting place of Johnnie Schmidt, is all alone.
John died in 1911 at the age of 24. He had been married to Ethel for five years. She was a widow at age 22.
Two years later, she re-married and lived another fifty years. She’s buried forty miles away next to her second husband.
Johnnie Schmidt is buried near his mother and father, who died shortly after him. His son, who died after only four months of life, is also near him. Another son is buried close. But his is the most recent burial. He was put in the ground in 1975, outliving his father by over 60 years.
