The Mythical City of Piqua
This mural covers up an empty area of the mall that has NEVER been occupied.
The Miami Valley Centre Mall opened in 1988 with Elder-Beerman and JCPenney department stores plus a Hills discount store as anchors. A Sears was later added to this mall. Over the years the Hills became Ames which then closed in 2001. Steve & Barry’s opened in the former Hills but that chain closed down as well. The Cinemark cinemas moved to a free-standing location behind the mall. A Dunham’s is now supposed to open in the old Hills space. Unlike many malls this one has a hotel attached to it.
