Sweetness incarnate.

Most people I know would automatically pick the small dog to be the cutest.
Fortunately for Israel, I think he is one of the most stunning creatures I’ve ever known.
I took Simona out to socialize today and she did really well. She walked on a leash very well for being so young (she tried to chew on it a few times but she likes to follow me around so it’s pretty easy) and greeted other dogs big and small with licks and a wagging tail. She took corrections well, too, being "told off" by a few dogs. The other owners freaked out but I had to say "Hey, she deserved that for not respecting his space!" plus she wouldn’t leave them alone when I kept letting her know that’s what I wanted, so she got what she was asking for and is better off for it.
What annoyed me the most is that whenever people would find out she was a pit bull mix the "oohs" and "aahs" would fade and they wouldn’t smile as big as they had when they first saw her. It was like saying she was a venomous snake.
One woman had the gall to say that she was "already" snappy after I told her she was a pit mix, since she had asked. At the time Simona was playing with another terrier puppy so they were both being feisty but not at all aggressive or mean. I wanted to slap that ignorant bitch in the face.
I am sick of hearing "She doesn’t look anything like a pit bull! She’s too cute for that!"
Pardon moi, but I have two pits at home, thanks, and I think they’re some of the best looking dogs I’ve ever seen.
There was a couple in the store with a blue brindle and white pit bull that looked like Israel but much smaller and they had a pit puppy too. Both were good dogs, though the older dog was a bit overexcited and reminded me of a combination of my two pits–friendly like Shifra but nervous like Israel. It was making the exact same noises that both of them do, too. Simona must’ve thought it was one of mine because she wanted to go up to it so badly and kept egging the poor thing on. I corrected her for staring it down and making it freak out.
I don’t like to carry dogs–obviously I can’t carry my other three! and Simona is no exception. She had to experience the world from where she stands, tall or short, and people have to bend down to pet her. I only carried her after she was clearly exhausted from so many new experiences and was genuinely tired, not just being a brat.
She loved having people and kids come over to pet her.
But still, I feel like taking her out with Israel with me. Show people a thing or two.
I am just sick and tired of people making ignorant, asinine comments towards pit bulls and they’ve never even met or seen one in real life!
