A view of the historic stone bridge that rises over the south lagoon in Springfield’s Lincoln Park. The bridge was built in 1911 at a cost of ,222.00. It is now one of most popular sites in the Capital city for the taking of wedding photos.
Located on the north side of Springfield, Lincoln Park was developed in 1905 as termini of the urban trolley line owned by the Springfield City Railroad Company. After the park was sold to the Springfield Pleasure Driveway and Park District, the grounds were renamed Lincoln Park in honor of our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, whose tomb is located in Oak Ridge Cemetery that borders the park’s west side.
