Russell Crowe plays the Vanguard

Tomorrow night Russell Crowe is at it again, selling his songs to folks at the Vanguard up on King St (Newtown).
I’m all for folks expressing themselves through song (I am a long-term karaoke supporter after all), but Russell’s gigs sound terribly self-indulgent to me. Isn’t it enough that we watch his movies?
The idea of listening to Russ’ singing sounds as appealing to me as sitting through a night of John Laws reading his poetry. Though I’m sure anyone hoping to work on a future film with the guy will applaud each song with immense enthusiasm. Go Russ! (or not)
