Not-UFO Submarine Missile Flying, Near Sacramento

So around 6:00 PM PST on 11/7/15 while I was driving back from Marysville There was a faint glow of light that broke through the thickening fog creeping along the Sacramento Valley, then it gradually grew faint and eventually disappeared. I thought it was some strange reflection of the moon through the clouds, snapped a photo and thought little more about it.
This morning I found that it was big news. Apparently the light was visible throughout much of Southern California, with sightings as far away as Arizona. It was centered around the Los Angeles area, which had an extremely bright light cover the sky. People wondered about this UFO, with claims ranging from comets to alien spacecraft. Within a few hours, the US Navy came up with an explanation.
"Navy Strategic Systems Programs conducted [a] scheduled Trident II (D5) missile test flight at sea from USS Kentucky, an Ohio Class SSBN, in the Pacific Test Range off the coast of Southern California," Navy Commander Ryan Perry said in a statement.
"The tests were part of a scheduled, on-going system evaluation test."
Much of LAX and SAN had had their flight routes scrambled this week by Navy night time tests, so in a way this was unsurprising. I am a little shocked I could see it so far away.
