A review of J Mark Dodds’ portfolio
The parallel lean (of man and column) in ‘New Hope’ is certainly serendipitous – staged or not, and the bland tonality suits the subject well. ‘Star Lane’ begs us to find ironic meaning within it. The elegant ‘A Few Of My Favourite Things’ again has a washed out, low contrast look that adds rather than detracts from the subject. ‘DSCF5780 Kennington Gasometers’ could be a rather clever image. More literal is ‘Gasometer’ with the visual reference to electricity adds to the utility of the image. A rather studied portfolio, full of visual wit, excellent.
