The 1883 bronze sculpture by William Wetmore Story which honors the longest-serving Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Marshall, located at John Marshall Park in the Judiciary Square neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
Via the Smithsonian:
"John Marshall was Chief Justice of the United States from 1801-1835. He served in the Revolutionary army and fought in his father’s regiment at the battle of Great Bridge. In 1871 he practiced law in Virginia and was later elected to the Virginia Assembly for eight sessions. After moving to Richmond, he again served in the Assembly and later participated in the ratification of the Constitution of the United States. In 1789 he became special envoy to France and went on to serve as a Congressman and as Secretary of State before being named Chief Justice. This sculpture is a recast of the original which is located at the United States Supreme Court. Another recast is located in Philadelphia at the west entrance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art."
