Event Horizon at the Science Festival 09

The Shoreline of Infinity science fiction journal has a regular monthly literary evening of readings of short fiction, poetry, music and often some drama. The April event coincided with the Edinburgh International Science Festival being on, so it changed from its normal location in Frankenstein’s pub to Summerhall, a multi-use arts hub in what used to be the old Royal Dick Veterinary School buildings. The talks were held in the old Dissection Room lecture hall, still with the old-fashioned, high, narrow, curved lecture seating, the only thing really changed is the dissection table is gone! Today we mostly dissect literary themes instead!
From the description of this month’s Event Horizon gig: "We’ll have poetry and music from Rachel Plummer and Nicky Long on clarinet.
Ben Blow reads from Shoreline of Infinity 11½ Special Edition – launched at the event. Come get your signed copy.
Debbie Cannon and Jonathan Whiteside premiere a new Infinitesimals audio drama – Lowland Clearances, written by Pippa Goldschmidt and adapted by Jonathan Whiteside.
With MC Russell Jones
Discussion with science fiction writers Paul McCauley, Anne Charnock and Professor Rachel Armstrong – Can Science Fiction Save Us?"

Apologies for many of these not being too sharp, but it was a sold-out event and I found myself sitting right up at the high point at the very back of the lecture room and even using the low light level having to zoom a lot to get close ups just didn’t give very clear shots in the indoor lighting, but it’s better than nothing!
