Desert Ghost Town Grave 8730 A

Grave in the pioneer cemetery outside the semi-ghost town of Keeler, California.
Keeler is on the edge of now largely dry Owen Lake. In the late 1800s, the town was a steamboat stop and even had a lake-side resort at one time. After the lake was drained to supply Los Angeles with water in the 1920s, alkali dust storms plagued the area and many people left. Runs on zinc and silver mining at times also sustained the town. This was my favorite pioneer cemetery I’ve visited in the last couple of years.
