day 3, instanbul: docked in front of türkiye denizcilik işletmeleri
after a full day at sea we hit our first port of call in instanbul. the general itinerary had us hitting the blue mosque, the hagia sophia, the topkapi palace and finishing up at the grand bazaar. traffic had choked off the roads around the mosques giving us an opportunity to explore on foot.
the people traffic wasn’t much better. tried to work with the dense crowds and ended up with a few motion blurred exposures.
pictured here is the city taken from the deck of our ship, the mv cristal. in the foreground you can see the turkish port authority building. in the distance you can see the süleymaniye mosque and galata tower.
next – mykonos
previous – cruising to istanbul
photo notes: used hugin to stitch a bunch of exposures from the 17-55f2.8 taken at 35mm focal length.
initially created a much wider panorama that actually showed both ends of the cruise ship that i was standing on at the time. after going through that exercise i’ve come to realize that wider isn’t necessarily better. imo, it was most important to showcase the light on the port authority building. and doing so gave this version a much needed point of focus.
