LNER Peppercorn Class A1 Steam locomotive 60163 ‘Tornado’ is seen passing through Cardiff Central on 5th August 2017 with the return leg of the Towy Tornado railtour. The steam loco would be in charge of the train as far as Bristol Temple Meads, with diesel haulage for the remainder of the journey back to Eastleigh.
Tornado was built in Darlington between 1994 and 2008, and so despite first appearances, is a relatively modern locomotive – the first mainline steam loco to be built since Evening Star in 1960 – en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNER_Peppercorn_Class_A1_60163_Tornado .
