CAPE MAY – Home décor lovers, get ready to be inspired! Don’t miss this one-time opportunity to relish exquisite, professionally designed interiors of four of the Cape May area’s finest, privately-owned homes during the third annual Cape May Designer House Tour on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Cape May Designer House Tour is presented by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC). In 2016 and 2017, MAC presented one-day Designer House Tours and they were a huge success. This year, the event returns with four more homes, each professionally designed — all open to the public on one day.
The houses and designers featured on the tour are as follows:
The Villa at Willow Creek Farm and Winery
The Villa at Willow Creek Farm and Winery, 168 Stevens St., is the Italianate style residence of Barbara Hamilton Bray Wilde. It is surrounded by breathtaking views of the vineyard and stunning perennial gardens. At the Villa, you will find hand-milled Cedar clapboard in iron oxide wrapped in copper, unusual rain chains and the Villa is crowned with a huge cupola. It is a perfect layout of open entertaining space, with a chef’s kitchen complete with artisan-milled cherry cabinets. The design of this property includes beautiful glass-tiled bathrooms, mahogany porches, and a pool with outside entertainment area.
Villa Dora
Anna and Terry Darby welcome you to their new home at 1221.5 Lafayette St. This home, with its beautiful sunset views, seeks to blend historical style with modern conveniences. It was designed and built with the intent to hold family gatherings and visits by many friends. Terry and Anna worked on the design with the firm of Fenwick Architects and with the builder, Carl J. Roth Carpentry. The interior design was facilitated by Mike Peirson of Island Home, and Ronnie Manzi of Complete Interiors, Avalon.
The Cola Residence
The Cola Residence at 608 Seagrove Ave. is a Carmel-style home built by Kenn Mann. Its unique wavy brick exterior never fails to catch the eye of passersby. The home is situated on a 0.39-acre lot which sits within the boundaries of Cape May Point State Park. A clever walled design of the exterior property maximizes space in the beautifully landscaped back yard. Complete with a spacious wrap-around deck, fire pit, and pool, it gives the feeling of being in a private resort.
House of Harmony
Renovated in 2018, 110 2nd Ave. was a collaboration between Architects Tim and Donna Lisle of Philadelphia, D.L. Miner Construction of Cape May Court House and The Summer House Design Group of Stone Harbor. The objective was to take the footprint of the existing summer rental duplex, and make it into a year-round, single-family home that maximizes the view of the surrounding Cape May beauty. House of Harmony offers views of the bird sanctuary, Cove Beach and the Cape May Lighthouse that are not to be missed!
Self-guided tours of these four homes are offered Saturday, Sept. 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each visitor receives a map and a full-color program book with information about the designers, products and vendors. Admission is .
Tickets must be purchased in advance. They may be purchased online at www.capemaymac.org, or in person at the Washington Street Mall Information Booth or the Emlen Physick Estate, or by calling 609-884-5404. Tickets are limited and advance purchase is required.
