Bochum – Bismarkturm Startrail

The Bismarck’s tower in Bochum is a monument privy in 1910 in the town park Bochum. He is dedicated, like numerous other towers of this time, to the Chancellor of the German Empire Otto von Bismarck who was nationwide revered as an architect of the foundation of the Empire in 1871.
In June, 1908 the construction of a Bismarck’s tower was stimulated by the former town council Otto Hünnebeck, after Bismarck had been appointed already in 1895 the freeman of Bochum. Less than 650 sent draughts one decided on the draught of the architect Albert Friebe from Wroclaw former Breslau.
As a location one chose a hill in the town park Bochum with a view about the city of Bochum to Gelsenkirchen and the city of Essen. The costs of 100,000 RM for the 33-metre-high building were born by donations. The building material is a Ruhr sandstone from Dortmund-Hohensyburg.
On the 16th of October, 1910 the tower was initiated. To the tower put on, with benzene pursued fire bowl was beaconed till the 1920s in Bismarck’s birthday
