Took this portrait of a blue parrot years back in San Diego. This beautiful birds are found in the wild in Central and South America. Once hunted for their brilliant feathers to use in both tribal costumes and in fashion hats. The Blue and yellow Macaw can live up to 60 years of age. They are known to pair for life and live in small family groups. In the wild, Blue and Yellow Macaws eat palm fruit and other tree fruits. Though kept by pets by some and zoos it is so much better for them to live in the wild where they can socialize and continue to reproduces as they are becoming endangered.
