Sydney Allard figured out over a decade before Carroll Shelby’s Cobra, that it would be a good idea to dump a hunking big American V-8 into a small European chassis and go racing. By 1950, the Cadillac V-8 was a popular choice as here. A brutal raw car to drive at speed, it was competitive at the time. Sydney drove a J2 to 3rd place over all at the 1950 Le Mans even with the loss of 1rst and 2nd gears in his 3 speed transmission. Amazing drive, driver and car
