BACKSTORY: Got up around 7:20AM, made it out driving by 7:52, started yardsaling after breakfast at 8:14 and and went out until 2:30 for a total of 5.75 hours (subtracting out the lunch break). Spent .50 plus ~.15 gas for 80.7 miles of driving (32.8 mpg @ .50/G), for a total cost of .65. We drove to 45 yard sales, stopping at 23 (51%) of them. We made 28 purchases (56 items) for a total estimated value of 7.15, leading to a profit/savings of 9.65. So in essence, we multiplied our .50 investment by 7.60X. (Also, if you think about it, the profit counts for even more when you consider that we have to earn 2.75 on the job, pre-tax, in order to take home the 9.65 in cash that we saved. How long does 2.75 of disposable income take to earn, vs the 5.75 hrs we spent here?) Anyway, this works out to a *post-tax* "wage" of .93/hr as a couple or .97/hr per person.
