This Queensland built 29 seat Bus is on a 1942 Ford V8 21T chassis, the body completed by Watts Bros of Woolloongabba in 1948. The body typical of the era; a Yellowwood wooden frame with exterior zinc anneal panelling being hand rolled and beaten into shape. Watts Bros built over 500 buses between 1923 and 1973.
The vehicle operated for Turner’s Lismore-Ballina Motor Service which was owned by Clarrie Turner until 1953, when sold to the Kirkland Bros of Lismore. Through a few more owners, including Archie Parker, who operated it as a school bus until 1976. It was aquired in 1986 and restored to original condition to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Kirklands in 1989.
