Creating woodworking plans is a great way to share your project with others. It’s also a great way for woodworking content creators to generate some revenue through selling of those plans. I have sold over ,000 worth of woodworking plans on Etsy. If you have a woodworking business and you would like to create plans but don’t know where to start (or want to improve your current process) this video is for you!
I get a lot of questions regarding my build plans – what programs I use & how do I make them. In this video I will attempt to answer those questions so because I think the information could be useful to others out there looking to do the same. I go over my thought process when creating plans, the specific programs I use, and even what platform to sell them on.
Thank you so much for watching and feel free to ask questions in the comments section regarding topics I didn’t get to in the video!

New here! Thank you. I’m building my first woodworking plan, now.
Totally cool demo. Thanks so much. Fusion 360 here we come, go bye SketchUp
I found Kevin's free version of the I found the FREE version of the Fusion 360 Woodworking Course here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3qGQ2utl2A Its actually the first of many classes. I don't know why one would pay for the one here? Could someone tell me why ,except for the obvious to create revenue?
Very nice videos… you’re right. There is NOT a lot out there on building plans like this.
Totally random, but love the Saturn 5 model rocket on the back cabinet. I'm assuming it's an Estes, or similar plastic model. My dad had a model-selling business for a couple of years in the late 60's or 70's, so growing up in the 90's we were always putting together model car and plane kits. My dad had one of those exact Saturn 5 rockets that he put together at some point, and it was always a staple around one of our bedrooms.
I am really sure you can make it yourself mates. I made it 2 weeks ago thanks to WoodPrix.
Hi, i used fusion 360 in the past but now it license its way out of my budget becouse they do offer no more educative licences, there are some software wich can still design separatelly pieces in order to end making the asambly? (no matter how basic it is in terms of graphics) Thanks a lot in advance
Your plans are absolutely the best on the Internet. That wasn't the chipmunk running around behind you it was your dog. I have used your plans on many projects and they are absolutely the best. I've recently built A3 box chest for my wife's craft ring and it was from your plans primarily just modified some
Fusion 360 is also very clunky. I often have to restart that program where other software runs smooth as butter with the same projects.
Love this video; maybe my 10th watch, I'm finally computer shopping!
For small furniture and flat-pack items in 360, do you think I'll need the minimum 3Ghz clock speed as listed in the system requirements? I plan to also get a higher functioning desktop, but for now just a laptop, that will eventually mainly run Lightburn and radio/etc.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
This is fantasic! I love this, thank you for making this video. Very inspiring.
Travis, this was extremely informative! I'm also planning to offer downloadable design plans for a very niche market, and trying to determine if there is even a small market. If you don't mind me asking, other than getting traffic on Etsy, have you determined what draws the most traffic to your build plans? Is it SEO, hashtags, ads, etc? Thank you.
Great info. I have been a lic. contractor/welder/fabricator nut job for years. Finally starting to shoot vids and produce content. Your info. is great and the sharing is appreciated. KP
Thanksfully for your videos
Hey Travis, have you experienced a template plan printing out smaller than you designed it? I’m sure the parts I’m working on are digitally the right size, but when printed out they are shrunk down and I ensured that “fit to page” is unchecked. Just seeing if you ever had this issue. Thanks
Do you use the free or paid version of Fusion 360?
Fusion 360 is a sub based program and WAY too expensive.
Thanks and the link to a class on Fusion is priceless, I have access to a no cost use of Fusion related to my job, but without some direction it’s daunting at best.
Hey do you have a link to the ppt template? Video was amazing, I agree fusion is way better than skecthup once you get past the learning curve
