There is a fire in my belly/ And I do not know how to put it out/ How do you extinguish something that lives inside you/ How do you get to the water when you’re the one doing the burning/ I am the Burning Man/ I am what will warm you and I am what will scorch you/ I am not too big nor too small/ And I will always be wary of how much space I occupy/ If I could, I would walk on air/ Not step on any toes/ Become sunshine and practically not exist/ But I am here, and I have been here/ And I have walked on surfaces soft enough they’ve molded themselves around the shape of my feet/ And I have walked on enough sharp thing to still be picking out the thorns/ And it gets a little bloody sometimes but that’s okay/ What is fire if it doesn’t rage a little red sometimes?
