Hello, my dear readers. Today’s review is of a long-awaited book. It was released a fortnight ago, but since I was out of town, I couldn’t get to it. Now that I have settled back, I quickly downloaded it and here is my review of Be With Me by Gabrielle Sands.

You guys know how I enjoy reading Gabrielle’s books, especially The Fallen series. I can’t rave about it enough! I’m pretty excited that the author is continuing to dole out love stories of the characters we have been waiting with bated breath about! Now, without much rambling, let’s get to the review with a synopsis of Be With Me.

She’s the mayor-to-be’s perfect daughter. He’s the ruthless villain set to ruin her.
I’ve spent my life putting others first. So when my father runs for New York City mayor—on a promise to take down the city’s most notorious crime family—I do what I always do: push my own dreams aside to help him win.

Until I wind up at the wrong party. Trapped in a bedroom with Romolo Ferraro—the dangerous, merciless youngest son of the man my father has sworn to destroy.

He terrifies me. He fascinates me. Six foot four and covered in tattoos, he’s everything I should avoid.

When he starts pursuing me, I know I’m just a pawn in his game. A means to an end. And yet… part of me wants to play along.

I tell myself it’s to protect my father’s campaign. But I’m not thinking about politics when Romolo’s rough hands slide over my skin, teaching me how good it feels to burn.

They say good girls don’t fall for the villain.

But maybe, I’m tired of being good.

Be With Me is the first of the two-book House of Ferraro series. If you haven’t come across her, Gabrielle Sands writes some of the best mafia book romances. This book is set in Manhattan, and it is the story of Romolo, one of the three brothers of the Ferraro mafia clan and Mia, the daughter of the mayor-to-be.

Romolo pursues Mia to get whatever information he can about her father’s political campaign, which plans to destroy the Ferraro family if he gets elected. But when fate forces both of them to face each other repeatedly, Romolo fears he may be unravelling in front of her, which he cannot allow. Mia, on the other hand, kind and subdued, finds herself surprised at the way Romolo crept into her heart when no one else bothered to think about her. Not even her father.

This book is a light-weight, straightforward story as compared to the other books by the author. Unlike The Fallen series, where so much was happening in the background, this one was subtle. The plot is good, nothing complicated.

Rom and Mia’s characters were given a fitting backstory. The story emphasised their emotions over the background story, in my opinion. But what surprised me was Vita’s character. I did not see it coming!

As far as acts of possessiveness, yearning, and romance go, this book doesn’t disappoint. Put forbidden romance and an obsessive hero together, and it automatically kick-starts a storm of tension, passion, and emotional chaos that keeps the pages turning.

The only con, I would say, was that the story was predictable. Nevertheless, if Gabrielle has a book out, then I’m reading it without question. That’s all there is to it.

Last word on the book. It is a perfect read for someone who enjoys mafia romance. Go check it out, it is out on Kindle Unlimited!
