  1. I was at my local home improvement center. It s not Home Depot. I always check their half price damaged lumber bin. A long 4×4 treated post caught my eye. It was bowed a little with a slight twist. I knew I'd need shorter pieces and cut into two or 3 shorter pieces the defects wouldn't be noticeable. Problem was it wouldn't fit in my car. Too long. I told check out person if they could cut in half , add it to my total. She did , but they didn't. Said they didn't have anything to cut a 4×4 post in half. I had paid for it and in less time than a refund would have taken , I drove to a buddy's borrowed his electric chain saw, it was the quickest he could hand me. I returned to Lowes ( upps that slipped ) cut my post and it came home.

  2. Hi , thanks for a great video, may you tell me what gauge brads you used in assembly, was it 18 ? Thanks in advance

  3. Isn't it ironic that in a "beginner" cabinet video you used:
    – table saw
    – router
    – pocket screw drill jig, whatever it's called
    – mitre saw
    – …?

Wow, you really have no idea how (un)equipped beginners are, don't you?

  4. I like how you used nails to hold the panels in position before pocket screwing. What size and ga do you use?

  5. You lost me with the drawers. I was a cabinet maker. Most of the techniques you use for the boxes is sufficient. But the drawers you built gave me a case of the hives. Junk. You just can’t make a decent drawer that will hold up like this. Unless you plan to keep toothpicks in it. 1 or 2.

  6. Serious question: Are toe-kicks overrated? What would be the harm in making base cabinets without them?

  7. I think I might like the dowel jig you use… can you let me know the brand/model of it?

  8. Thanks for showing the building process! Picked up on some good tips like adding in some nails before driving the pocket screws in!

  9. Dude…MANY times have I cut stock out in the parking lot of HD or lowes in order to fit it in my vehicle. I have a buick enclave with the third row. That thing has TONS of room, but still will not hold a 4×8 sheet.

  10. He seems smart, and he is refreshingly funny. I'd trust him to make something of quality.

  11. Great video and great tips. I'm looking at making a set of cabinets for a miter station in the garage later this summer and I'll definitely refer back to this video.

And you should really give Shara the credit if you're going to clip her video at 14:40. Just general courtesy.
