My wife and I took a road trip to Tennessee for a recovery retreat that included a recovery refresh, golf and hiking. We brought the gravel bikes, but couldn’t find the time to ride them.
What a weekend it was. Surprisingly, and awesomely, this retreat wasn’t structured with meetings all day and all night. There were two meetings Friday, only two Saturday, and one Sunday – which left ample time to play. My wife went on a hike with some friends from a zoom meeting who were there, I went golfing with my father-in-law, the three of us went for a small hike around Fall Creek Falls… and we had a few meals together. I loved that format.
All too often you’ll find a retreat with wall-to-wall recovery, so certain people will try to cram all of them in without exploring the forest and the trees. Not this retreat!
We drove home last night, from Crossville, Tennessee (a hotbed of recovery if there ever was one) after dropping my wife’s dad off at home.
Thankfully, I’ve got today off to tend to the yard before heading back to work tomorrow. What a weekend!
We’ve already made plans to head back next year. I’ll post here when registration opens up so maybe you can get in and recover with us in Tennessee if you’ve got the time.
