Rolling Seas Kickstarter is Live and Funded!

It finally happened! Rolling Seas finally launched on Kickstarter yesterday. It was funded in just two hours and is now sailing through stretch goals. It’s kind of surreal to have all this happening right now, and I’m so excited.

Nuts Publishing did an amazing job with the game.  Over the last four years, I’ve worked with Yohann over there to really polish and improve the game.  They hired French artist Lise Flety to do the artwork, and it turned out amazing.  The core experience is the same as the version on The Game Crafter, just more!  The components and artwork are more immersive, the flow is more streamlined, and there are new gameplay features that add to the experience.  I can’t wait for this to get out to the rest of the world!

Here’s a quick overview of some of the new updates to the game:

  • New Artwork – it’s amazing, thanks to artist Lise Flety.
  • Great components – everything is larger (bigger maps, tarot-sized adventure cards), more functional (the compass is a spinner and the dice are custom), and just better overall.
  • Weapons – a new resource to manage, weapons let you fight Pirates and Sea Monsters and more!
  • Monoliths – Some exploration spaces have mysterious monoliths to discover.  Be the first to find all three and gain a huge reward.  These really increase player interaction.
  • Smooth Sailing Enhancements – now, Smooth Sailing cards give you small bonuses or strengthen sea monsters and pirates.
  • Ambushes – a new adventure pits players against each other!
  • More tweaks and enhancements really streamline the gameplay.
There are also some updates to the expansion content:
  • Salty Dogs & Sea Tales combines the former Crew Members expansion with the previously unavailable Current Events expansion.  Both have been streamlined and enhanced, plus given Lise Flety’s art treatment.
  • Sagas & Shanties is a new set of mini-expansions that have been getting unlocked as stretch goals in the campaign.  These feature unlockable content that you can open once you achieve certain criteria in the standard game.  They add new mechanics, storylines, and more to your game.
Be sure to check it out today!  The campaign ends on June 3rd, so there’s not much time.
