A Pink Browed Rosefinch Female late in the evening
I had a target of photographing a Common Rosefinch, the male looks similar to this one. And so on day one when we sighted this bird, I thought I met my target – but not so, I didn’t get that Common Rosefinch at all in the trip.
The Pink Browed Rosefinch is a beautiful bird that has an very rich pinkish body color with a light whitish brow while the female is brown in color. Both males and female sport this light brow.
As we travelled down the hills to lower altitudes these birds were everywhere in the countryside much to my delight. Fruiting trees, flowering bushes, riversides etc.. Their favorite seemed to be a particular plant growing on the hilly roadsides that has a near foot long stalk full of seeds. I don’t know the name of that plant, but during our trip we sighted several finches eating them including the Scarlet Finch, Pink-Browed Rosefinch, the Dark-Breasted Rosefinch, BullFinch etc..
Thanks in advance for your views, feedback and faves.
