Designing Proportional Woodworking Projects – WOOD magazine

The difference between a beautiful project and a mediocre one is often in its proportions. The ancient Greeks figure out that many things humans find attractive and appealing have proportions that conform to the Fibonacci Sequence, also sometimes called the Golden Section or the Golden Mean. In this video, you’ll learn to design furniture that pleases the eye using a very simple shop-made device called a Fibonacci Gauge.

  1. I want that tool. I need to measure my world with it. I'd like to ask a question, and I'm not meaning to sound rude, but I still want to know. Why do some people pronounce "height" as "highth"? It reminds me of Daffy Duck, but not in a good way.

  2. I’m sorry but you made absolutely no sense. I’m an intelligent person and you literally left out every detail that is needed for a person to go from your video to actually sketching a plan. You should really redo this video

  3. Do note that is just a partial list of all 16,000 plans you can download right away.I can’t possibly tell you everything you’ll learn when you dive into TedsWoodworking … otherwise you’d be reading this page all day! @t ENJOY THIS

  4. Just keep moving the gauge different positions, you're not explaining why. Very hard to follow and a total waste of time…. Disappointing!

  5. I like the golden ratio but… in real world situation you need specifics dimensions to build stuff, like a planed kitchen, how you deal with it?

  6. The word "HEIGHT" ends in a T in English and American. It does NOT end in a "….TH."
It is so irritating that I cannot watch what is otherwise a brilliant and interresting video.
